LINK-O-RAMA

Here's a dump of links I've been meaning to blog about:
  • Future Bomber. From Air Force Magazine, an overview of U.S. plans for strategic strike aircraft over the next 10-25 years. Everything except the ourageous cost of the two completely new programs discussed makes pretty good sense.
  • An Inconvenient Scientist. A nice profile of MIT's Richard Lindzen, a serious, big-time climate scientist who asks tough questions of Al Gore and other climate crazies. Like Lindzen, I don' t deny that there may well be some degree of warming in the overall climate (pun intended) -- I just don't think we know nearly enough to know how much or why.
  • Martian Eyes. The now-activated Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has successfully imaged the Opportunity rover. This is amazing in so many ways. First, the fact that both of the rovers that landed in early 2004 are still working, over ten times longer than their originally planned mission is ... well, amazing. These little robots have been trucking along, returning an avalanche of great data for so long and so reliably that you have to just be, well, amazed. But then, add to that the fact that we now have in orbit around Mars another robot that can take a picture of those little guys. It's, well ... amazing. It's not all bad. Sometimes, some people do good things. Like this.
