LINK-O-RAMA
With a couple of large cases in periods of high activity, the continuing communication issues I've had at the Batcave and a big Orbiter project nearing completion, I've been neglectful of Burchismo. Thus, another edition of Link-O-Rama:
- Paco Pond: My life-long friend Paco has been lavishing his considerable talent on his blog lately. This piece on what he perceives as an "Islamic Reformation" is well worth a close reading. He wrote this in response to some correspondence between us and I intend to respond to it eventually.
- More God Stuff: "Religious Studies" have continued to be a major thread in my intellectual life. This article at the Prospect looks at the recent discussions about the demographic advantage of religious conservatives with more methodological rigor than many of the items in the popular press you may have seen, but reaches the same chilling conclusions. This very well written article at Wired is a, mildly gonzo-ish overview of what the author calls "The New Atheism," i.e. the recent spate of books from the likes of Dawkins, Dennet, et al. And this one at Butterflies and Wheels is a good brief example of the kind of material he's talking about.
- The War, Such as It Is: Here's an item at the Council on Foreign Relations rounding up the evidence that Hizzbollah is rearming, making a mockery of the pathetic UN "peacekeeping" mission in Lebanon. And the sophisticates at the BBC are finding it harder and harder to hide the fact that they are working for the other side.
Hopefully, I'll be back to more substantive blogging by the end of this coming weekend.
